A Fabulously Flawed Life

I've been crazy busy organizing these new products for the only daughter I'll ever know, Executive Homemaker . She's my "baby" of sorts and unlike my boys: she does what I tell her, wears what I want her to wear, and doesn't {usually} talk back. I got the sweetest e-mail a while ago and I've been reading it over and over again. I thought I'd share the insight I received, hopefully it will inspire you as it did me: "Laurie, ... I hope u know how special u are, even if you DO nothing today you are amazing just because you are. We are human Beings not human Doings. Love you." Isn't that the most thoughtful e-mail! I'm so inspired by this friend and she seems to be constantly concerned for others. She embodies service and is such a wonderful support. Thank you! Did anyone watch Maria Shriver on Oprah yesterday? I was so impressed that she would announce to the world she had an identity crisis and that she struggles with living up to her parent's expectations. Maria also confided that she attributed her job and her accomplishments with who she was and her purpose in life. I can completely identify with that. "Today I am quiet, my mom understands. She gave me two ice creams and then we held hands. We went to the movies and then had a bite. I cried just a little and then felt alright." That's my mood today. I feel down and a little blue. I took a 3 hour nap this evening and am feeling a little better. ;) I'm sure it has something to do with the 9 guests I've hosted over the past 4 weeks. Saturday we came home from lunch with Melissa and Lisa and our babysitter told us that Drake had unlocked the front door and walked out! A stranger found him and brought him back home. Ahhhhh!! So today, I feel very blessed to still have my grumpy , Blue's Clues loving, insomniac . First thing on my list - Home Depot for more locks!

My friend Melissa and her hubby came to visit over the weekend. We've been friends for years and I really appreciate and enjoy our friendship. We have tons in common. We also both have 3 boys. She was blessed to have had a daughter 9 months ago and little Rachel is so beautiful and an easy going baby. It was a delight to see her! Drake loves getting his picture taken. Here we are trying on sunglasses. Yes, these are pimp girl ones - but doesn't he look great in them! We all decided to get new sunglasses. Doesn't Lisa look great! We had a blast shopping and eating and laughing together. We even bonded over pedi's ! I'm so excited to because I'll get to stay with her in a month when I'm in Utah. Big Tip!
