A Fabulously Flawed Life

Over the weekend, Jason and I had the opportunity to mix some business with pleasure in the Dominican Republic. When we told Davis we were going to the Dominican Republic he said, "Awesome! You're going to fight a civil war?" lol We went down with our friends, Mark & Melissa to check out a real estate opportunity, relax, and have some fun in the sun. Yep! You can now refer to me as "Laurie Trump"! {{giggle}} All the beach front property in the Dominican Republic has been purchased, even The Donald owns some. As you can see this was a very serious weekend. ;) It turns out, you don't have to be rich to own a fraction of a 5 star Hotel Suite. Normally I wouldn't blog about a financial decision I've made, but I am so excited about this opportunity. You know I can't keep my mouth shut about a great tip! Katri had us over for a movie night over the weekend and we watched 'Jane Eyre'. I will admit that I didn't go for the movie choice but to fulfill my love language of quality time with some pretty great women. I was not feeling it, until I saw blood and it was announced that someone got bit! I knew the odds of a vampire or werewolf being in this movie was slim to none - but I teased myself with the idea anyway. It worked and I ended up enjoying it. Thanks ladies! Jane Eyre gave me the bug, and I've been watching vampire movies in my media room ever since. {{giggle}} On another, completely unrelated , note: Drake discovered he could unscrew my lipstick and painted it on his face. Normally this would not be blog worthy. However, that was 2 DAYS AGO! Yep, it's still there. Hows that for a MAC commercial: It won't even rub off your baby's face after 2 days of scrubbing, long warm baths, and several soap products. ;)

I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. September - December has worn me out and now I'm ready to relax, read, and catch up on some movies. So, that's exactly what I've been doing. I finished the book " The Wednesday Letters ". I was the lucky recipient of this book at the Maven's gift swap . Thanks Jenni ! I loved it. I felt the same way as I did with the movie P.S. I Love You - even though the thought of a man writing a letter every Wednesday is a far fetched idea for me - I really appreciated the vulnerability and the twists the book has. It's a beautiful book and an easy read. I saw the movie 'I am Legend' with Lisa . I would NOT recommend it! Holy Crap, I'm still having nightmares. I didn't know anything about this movie other than, my man, Will Smith was in it. He usually does amazing movies and so it was a no-brainer that I would see it. It's a zombie flick. If you like that sort of thing then you'll love this mov...

Happy New Year from our family to yours! We started off the evening with our own little family party. My sister and BIL were in town for all the festivities. We sang... We danced... Some of us pouted... Sang some more... and then we counted down and the boys did the balloon drop! Drake loved it! Afterwards, we shipped off the kids, and hosted an adult PAR-TAY and invited some friends from our church. We laughed... Played air hockey and darts... Guitar Hero III... Sang... And this time Jason and I were in charge of the balloon drop! Happy New Year Ladies!!

I know this post is a little late - but it was such a fun family moment and I wanted to be sure and capture it. Can you believe I forgot my camera Christmas Eve? {{bummer}} Tricia just e-mailed me some of the pictures I took with her camera, so here they are. All the kids dressed up as Nativity Characters and we re-created the scene. Davis and Drake were shepherds and Dylan was a wiseman. They did such a good job and took their characters very seriously. ;) After the program, it was time for the kids talent show, my boys sang a diddy. They loved the attention! It was such a magical night full of friends, fun, and the warmth and magic Christmas Eve brings. The next morning after unwrapping presents, we sang Happy Birthday to Christ and the boys blew out a candle. Our wish to our Lord and Savior this year is to be more loving to and understanding with each other. This is a new tradition for our family and it was such a treat to have cake Christmas morning. ;)
